Course Structure

The total number of Units of Competency to receive SIT60322 Advanced  Diploma of Hospitality Management is 33 comprising of 14 core and 19 elective units.

Course Delivery Modes
  1. Work-Based Training (WBT) - Flexible delivery, designed for apprentices or fee-for-service students currently working in a commercial kitchen.

  2. Classroom-Based Training (CBT) - Structured delivery, designed for full-time domestic and international students. This training is delivered entirely in a classroom setting and a fully equipped commercial training kitchen.

Course Duration

Work-Based Training: 

  • 6 - 12 months, depending on the number of credit transfers and the individual progress of each student. At a minimum,  students are expected to complete one unit of competency per month. 

Classroom- Based Training:

  • Full-time International and Domestic Students

  • 26 weeks including 6 weeks of holidays. Includes credit transfers applied from completion of  SIT50422  Diploma of Hospitality  Management 

Job Outcomes

The SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management is the highest level in the Hospitality Training Package and prepares graduates for senior management and executive-level roles within the industry. It equips individuals with advanced leadership, business, and strategic management skills to operate across a wide range of hospitality enterprises. Typical job outcomes include: Area / Regional Manager Oversees multiple venues or outlets, ensuring consistent service standards, profitability, and compliance. Executive Chef Provides strategic leadership for kitchen operations, menu design, cost control, and large-scale culinary teams. Executive Housekeeper Leads accommodation services across large venues, focusing on operational efficiency and staff management. Food and Beverage Manager (large operations) Manages diverse food and beverage outlets within hotels, resorts, or clubs, focusing on quality service and profitability. Rooms Division Manager Directs front office, housekeeping, and guest services departments, ensuring seamless guest experiences. General Manager Holds ultimate responsibility for the overall success of a hospitality enterprise, including financial performance, operations, and strategic direction. Small Business Owner / Operator Graduates may establish or expand their own hospitality business, applying advanced managerial and entrepreneurial skills.

Admission Requirements

Apprenticeship Pathway

  1. To enrol in the SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification in Canberra, ACT via an apprenticeship/ WBT pathway you must be employed in a fully operational hospitality establishment. 

  2.  Completed  SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management.

  3. Sound English language, literacy and numeracy skills (ACSF – Level 5)

International Students 

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age;

  2. Proficient English language skills equivalent to IELTS 6.0. Our preferred method is Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) - A minimum overall score of 50, with no communicative skill score below 42.

  3. Must have completed  SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management.

Further Study Pathways

After achieving the SIT60322 Diploma of Hospitality Management in Canberra, ACT with Access Recognised Training Australia, candidates may consider undertaking a bachelor-level qualification. SIT60322 holders  generally qualify for direct entry into second year  at an Australian university level institution. Qualifications you may consider include:

  • University of Canberra – Bachelor of Event and Tourism Management

  • TAFE NSW – Bachelor of Business (Hospitality & Hotel Management)

  • The Hotel School (Southern Cross University) – Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management

  • Griffith University – Bachelor of International Tourism and Hotel Management 

  • Bond University – Bachelor of International Hotel & Tourism Management
