The Professional Standard - A Guide for Workplace Conduct, Boundaries, and Psychosocial Safety

Workshop Description

This two-hour face-to-face workshop is designed to empower staff with the knowledge and tools required to maintain a workplace free from psychological harm. Under current Australian law, "Positive Duty" requires employers to take "reasonable and proportionate measures" to eliminate discrimination and harassment before they occur. Providing specific, targeted training that defines acceptable conduct and empowers employees to handle breaches is a primary way for an organisation to demonstrate they are meeting this legal obligation.

The Professional Standard: A Guide for Workplace Conduct, Boundaries, and Psychosocial Safety provides a clear framework for identifying acceptable and unacceptable behaviours. The highly interactive activities  use real-life scenarios to prepare staff for the complexities of the modern office and digital environments.

What You Will Learn
  • The Three Pillars of Legislation: Understanding your obligations under the WHS Act, Fair Work Act, and Sex Discrimination Act.​

  • Psychosocial Hazard Identification: How to recognise hostile environments, poor organisational justice, and harmful behaviours before they escalate.​

  • Digital Conduct & Online Hazards:  Understanding that the "Professional Standard" applies to social media, messaging apps, and email even after work hours are finished.

  • The Neutrality Concept: Mastering the art of "agreeing to disagree" and prioritising professional dignity over personal agreement.​

  • Respect@Work Framework: Clearly defining "Red Lines," including sexual harassment, sex-based harassment, and victimisation.​

  • Tactical Assertiveness: Using the "Power of Choice" and the "Professional Exit" to handle breaches from colleagues, customers, or contractors.

Who is it for? 

​​This course has been developed to guide employees in any workplace on acceptable and unacceptable behaviour relative to current workplace laws affecting workplace conduct, boundaries and psychosocial hazards.

Workshop Delivery

We offer two ways to access the 'Professional Standard' workshop, ensuring that both individual professionals and entire organisations can access and master these tactical skills:

1. Individual Monthly Intake

Perfect for individuals, small business owners, or new staff members.

We host the ‘Professional Standard’ workshop every month at our Belconnen Training Centre.

2. Exclusive Group Sessions

For organisations looking to calibrate their entire team to a single professional standard, we offer exclusive group bookings:

  • Workshops are conducted at our Belconnen Training Centre or your workplace - if suitable.

  • $1,200 per session (up to 20 people) (gst excl.)
